Measure Lead screw How?

Can anybody tell me how to measure an Acme lead screw? I don't have an Acme thread gage and I'd like to know if it's a Metric or Imperial? Anybody

Measure the OD of the thread and see if it is about .005 to .010 under an inch size. If it is, it may be an inch thread... This should help...
