Do you have user accounts set up? Its the only thing I can think of that would not allow you to run an exe.

What are the specs of the computer?

No I am the owner & administrator The only thing that I can think of is. My system is windows 7, here at work we have Windows XP, that I put Mack3 on. Just a little bit ago I tried to run "Driver Test" on this computer. It opened and runs just fine. Of course because it is not hooked to a CNC the spikes are off scale.

Ah that could well be it, never used W7 so someone else who does will have to confirm whether that is the issue.

If it's a 64 bit version of Windows 7, that  could be your problem.

I dont think it would run at all if it was 64 bit unless of course Gene is using an external motion controller.

Ger, do you use W7 32bit? If yes does the driver test work for you?

I am running Mach3 on Windows 7 32 bit system. and it seems to run fine. I have the latest release of Mach3 but I do wish that Artsoft would come out with an update to run Mach3 in Windows 7. I am having problems with my motors running smoothly, expressly the 'X'. That is why I need to run the "Driver Test.exe" to try and eliminate the drivers, if they are my problem.

Driver Test is to check the Mach3 parallel port driver, not your motor drivers.

It does run fine in Windows 7. You yourself just said it did.

If you're motors are not running smoothly, it could be a lot of different things. Could be bios settings. Could be interference from other software. Could be resonance.

Sorry about that I thought 'Driver Test' was to check the motor drivers. My motor drivers are....Microstep Driver CW230.  And YES Mach3 is running fine in Windows 7 32 bit.
I did have a strange thing happen yesterday morning I was making a tool change and raised the motor. When I did I hit the limit switch on the 'Z' going to the + side. I reset the switch, and nothing would work. No motors would move. I finally saw that the "offline" was lit. So I reset it. But now when I press "Go to Zero" the Z goes to the + and will not zero. I rebooted the computer, and tried all the normal things. I can move the three axis by jogging them and they move as they should. Is there a switch in Mach3 that needs to be reset?
