I got the license from New Fangled/artsoft. I'll have to check the versions but here's the funny thing- The original version was dowloaded just about a year ago. That's an XP machine, we'll call XP-working.
I had another machine, one running Win7 and a 64bit machine. We'll call that 7-64
I downloaded the same version of Mach3(yesterday) that I just loaded to the (newly purchased/old)XP machine, we'll call XP-Broken, and it did indeed said 'licensed to john doe' on the 7-64 bit machine.....after I dropped the zipped license folder into the Mach3 folder. It does not on XP-Broken.
So they both had the same version downloaded from Artsoft yesterday, but one recognizes the license (7-64) and one does not (XP-Broken). That machine, the 7-64 bit, I'm told, will not load the parallel driver (and in fact it did not install it), and so I purchased this machine today: XP-Broken, 32 bit, in the hopes to get it all installed on a compatible machine......
As an anecdotal observation, I do see that the zip folder, containing the license, has an icon assigned in XP that's a generic; in other words it appears not to be associated with an unzip tool in Windows XP.....it does unzip however if I double click on it. Anyway, it's something I'll look at.
