DRO is negative
« on: July 01, 2010, 12:31:19 PM »
Hi everyone,
This is my first question of probably many..LOL

I have a Syil X4 milling machine.  When I home the table to the limiting switches, the DRO in Mach 3 reads Zero, Which is normal, however, when I try to go in the positive direction (to the right), it should be positive numbers, but they are negative instead.  My are being made upside down.  Is there a button in Mach 3 that I can use to switch this around?

Also, how would i go about making the part bigger, (scaling it up 2X for example)?

Finally, to switch from MM to Inches I believe it is G21 and G22, but were in the program do i input these numbers?4

Thanks in advance

Your axis is probably running backwards.

The best way to make parts bigger would be in a CAD or CAM program, but you can use the scale DRO's in Mach3, next to the position DRO's.

G20=inches
G21=MM
You can put it in your g-code, or use MDI to change it.

Thanks for the reply,
How do I go about changing the axis direction?

Config menu at the top/click homing and limits/then change the red"x" to a green check mark or vice versa under the axis row in the "Reversed" column.

Thanks for your help.  It worked flawlessly.  I never thought it would be so obvious.  I guess all the screens and settings are a little intimidating LOL

Glad it helped, and yes, all these settings can definitely be intimidating. I'm far from a Mach 3 power user so I know exactly what you mean  ;)
