Moving to another PC
« on: May 25, 2012, 11:01:07 AM »
I know it can be done, I think I was told to save an transfer an XML? Is this correct? When I look at the folder called XML, there are a bunch of XML's in there. Do I copy the entire folder? Or better yet, can someone give me or point me toward a play by play of transferring to another computer? Thanks, Mike

Open Mach and lower right of the main page you wll see the name of the profile you are using. Look in the main Mach3 folder for a file of that name with a xml file extension. The XML folder is a backup folder and contains automatically saved backups but its not really what you are wanting.
Other things you want to copy are the licence (assuming you are not using Mach in Demo) Any custom macros you may have, any brains you may have and if using a non standard screen then save it and any associated bitmaps for it.

You need the xml but not the backup xml .
The xml is in the Mach3 folder, the backups are in the  xml folder.

they're easy to find if you view the list by type, then the xml files are at the end of the list together.

No it is a single file you are looking for.
As said earlier open Mach and look at lower right of your main screen and you will see the name of the profile you are using.
If for example it was the standard Mill profile it would say Mach3Mill.
Next close Mach then browse to the Mach3 folder and look for a file called Mach3Mill.xml, see screenshot.
