HELP-External E Stop Requested
« on: July 04, 2012, 04:41:06 AM »
Hi all!

Recently I bought the cnc machine: 6040 (China)

I installed Mach 3 today, but ran into a problem

There appeared warning In the status field below the reset button  : External E Stop Requested.

Every time I click reset, everything remains the same

NOTE: The machine is not plugged in yet ( not connected to the PC)

I don't know what am I doing wrong.

I configured Mach3 relying on manual that Chinese seller had sent to me with the cnc router.
probably you may help?

Your E-Stop and possibly limits are throwing that error. Because you dont have the machine connected Mach is seeing the E-Stops or Limits or both are open circuit so wont let you reset. If you wish to test Mach out without the machine connected you will have to change the active state of E-Stop and Limits (if fitted) You will find that from Config menu then Ports and Pins then the Inputs tab.

I first tried to uncheck the E- stop column (in input signals tab) but as it turns out It can not be saved in unchecked condition
so I made it's meaning zero (0)

and it worked

Thanks Hood

Yes, its not possible to disable it, setting the active state to the opposite of what you had would have worked but also setting to 0 also works.

 Hallo  :)

I have now two additional questions

1. I connected my machine to the PC, all the axises are moving properly
but I can't make the spindle work. again everything is configured as my Chinese user's manual says
I think  I  may be missing something .could you please give me any advice?
2. About "E stop "again: Even when  I connected the machine to the PC the reset button (in mach3) did not work. Then I had to reset the program the way you taught me.
I thought maybe these two issues are somehow connected?

sorry I'm  too damn inexperienced  for the mach3 stuff.

You would have to attach the manual and your xml so I could see how things are meant to be set up.

Hello Hood
Tomorrow I'll be able to attach my manual.
Sorry what do you mean when saying xml?

Thank you for your answers

The xml file is the file that contains your config settings. If you open Mach you will see the name of the profile you are using (lower right) Look for a file in the main Mach3 folder with that name and a xml file extension. You will need to copy it to your desktop and rename it to something the forum has not had attached to it before so safest would be to call it dito.xml
You can use the additional options button on the reply page to browse and attach your renamed xml.

Ok will get that when you upload it. Just wondering though, does you machine have an E-Stop button?
