Embedded Windows XP

Does ArtSoft offer an embedded version of Windows XP to work with Mach3?
Would they offer such a thing?
I know I'd pay $40 for a prestripped, no security, no constant upgrade version of Windows XP to put on my CNC's.
As for Windows 7 or 8, lets not even go there.

EVEN IF it were available it would be FAR more than $40 for sure more like $200 a seat.

I believe that Tormach uses a version of embedded XP you may give them a call.

Really? For a soon to be unsupported operating system?

If ArtSoft approached Microsoft there would definitely be some buying power there.

I just think it would end the 'Mach3 doesn't work on my computer' questions.

OVR the years MANY people have asked the same question about a stripped down version for MACH3. I remember asking ART about it and he was not interested in the support side of such a thing. I think he described it as a living nightmare.

I am sure SOMEWHERE somones knows the exactly configuration needed to ONLY support MACH3. BUT over the years NOONE has reveiled the magic formula that I am aware of.

I TOO was one of those asking. Never got a real answer. Even asking tormach all I got was a criptic answer emplying they did knot know anything about it WHEN it was listed on their OWN website.

I gave up that inquest long ago as a lost cause.

Just a thought, (;-) TP

Just out of curiosity I will ask around again.

I had a feeling that was the reason. :(

I have a copy of how to set up Windows for running Mach3.
I should reread it and see if there's any changes that need to be made to the list.

I don't. When Mach3 doesn't work on a PC, 99% of the time it's due to the hardware, not the OS.

Hmmm, didn't think of that.

I was just thinking of my own little irritations with Windows turning off the USB ports when the machine was idle or suddenly informing me that my security was out of date.
But that was awhile ago and everything is working fine now.
