mach3 stops responding while running programs

Just tried cutting some programs and every time Mach 3 stops and the computer says not responding and I have to shut it down and unplug the smoothstepper and then plug it back in,restart Mach and same thing happens any ideas

Sounds like the SS is losing communication and Mach is just hanging waiting for communications.
Is it a USB SS or Ethernet?

Fixed the usb setting ran machine 4.5 minutes and it quit again,I noticed that one of the lights on the smoothstepper were out

I think you may be having problems with the USB SS losing communication for some reason. It could be related to the problems others saw due to noise, in fact I saw this on one machine and the cure for it was to remove a couple of components on the SmoothStepper to isolate the Gnd connection of the SS from the Computer. I think you can do the same by cutting through the shield of the USB cable at the SS end of it.
I will see if I can find the thread regarding this issue and paste in a link in a minute.

I will try that today if that does not work I will find another computer without 64 bit and trash the ss,I am getting pretty frustrated

I ran a program without the motors being plugged in and it ran all the way through
