M6 for lathe different for M6 for Mill?
« on: July 07, 2014, 04:24:56 AM »
Hi, just started played with my Mill.

I have noticed that the Mill with take "M6 T01" to change the tool but the Lathe will only take "M6 T0101".

Is this correct? Is there a reason for it? Or am I doing something wrong/missed something?

thanks
Rim

It's correct.
Lathe requires the tool position, and the tool offsets, as you could have the same tool in different postions (mostly used for ATCs)

Mill, the tool is always in the same position, it's just the cutter size that varies, so there's only one set of figures for each tool.

You dont have to use M6 call at all for Turn, the T**** is all that is required.
