Why after RESET the g code back to first line? HELP!
« on: January 04, 2025, 11:55:44 PM »
Hello guys,

Why after I hiting reset or emergency button,  automatically the g code back to first line? Like a rewind button..

How I can resolve this problem? Logically I want to be the same g code line if I hit the reset button!

Thanks you in advance!

Is that logical? Why did you hit the reset button? Maybe hit the stop button instead?

It's external emergency button, I want to use it for emergency stop, but to save the g code line number, not to back to first line.. you have any idea how to change it?

Well, I can't recall having seen that behaviour, so maybe there is an obscure config setting somewhere.  But generally, if you have to e-stop the machine, in most cases you should assume that you have lost machine zero so even if you did resume from last line it may not work properly.  Depending on your reason for stopping, just pressing STOP may be better in many cases, but note that resuming is not straightforward.

Ok, I have 2 motion controller, UC-100 w/ PMDX-122, and RNR-Motion usb card,,
If I control Mach3 with UC-100 it's ok, even I press reset it's still in the same line number of g-code,, but If i control it with RNR-Motion usb card, the same screen, same config, since I press reset it's back to first line of g-code and it's not good for me.. so strange what's going on!

Probably a "feature" of the RNR controller.  That's where the e-stop will be handled, probably it sends a message back to its plug-in which then sends a rewind to Mach3.  I use UC100 on both my machines which is why I haven't seen it I guess.

All my times I use the UC-100, and it's ok for me.. I just bought this USB Motion Controller and I have observed this issue,,
So you can't help me how to figure it to resolve this problem?

Well as I said there doesn't seem to be any Mach3 config to control this, and since it only happens on the RNR controller it must be a feature of that.  I suggest you contact the manufacturer but I don't hold out much hope of getting a useful reply!

One thing to beware is that I think e-stop just stops everything possibly in the middle of an instruction so the controller may be in an unknown state.  It may not behave as you might expect if restarted.
