Looking for a desktop lathe that can thread usning mach 3
« on: September 18, 2008, 07:53:17 AM »
Hello,

I have been googleing around looking for a CNC lathe that can cut threads small threads 12.2mm external to about 6.4mm internally.  However the only one I can find is a Wabeco for around £7000.

I was hoping to have a #2 morse taper, a tool turret would be nice however I am guessing that it would be too pricey.  The main thing would be single phase supply.  I would consider paying around £2000

I don't know if I am asking for too much for too little money.

Any help would be appreciated,  I have time as my workshop will be finished (laying a new floor  :)) around December time.  Will look to buy then.

Thanks,

Andy

Oh BTW you will probably have top do some modifications to the emcos to run from Mach but quite a few have done it. There are also Chinese lathes on UK eBay that come ready for Mach so might be worth checking them out, I think a member here may have dealings with them, look up John S in the members list.
